Designed with the mould and die sector in mind, the potential of productivity increases of up 20% is the proud boast of a linear motor axis VMC demonstrated for the first time in the UK at MACH.

The potential of productivity increases of up 20% is the proud boast of the new DMC 75V linear vertical machining centre from DMG Designed with the mould and die sector in mind, this model was demonstrated publicly for the first time in the UK at MACH 2004

With highly dynamic linear drives in all axes, the DMC 75V linear achieves accelerations of up to 2g and rapid traverses up to 90m/min.

Speed is also matched by exceptional machining and contour precision and surface quality.

Crucial to this performance is a highly stable, FEM-optimised gantry construction, direct measurement systems and the high-speed 3D Heidenhain iTNC 530 control.

Another contributing factor is temperature compensation that is fitted as standard in the z-axis.

Thanks to these qualities and a powerful 18,000 rpm milling spindle, the DMC 75V linear also achieves extremely high productivity rates for roughing.

Other features include an enlarged machining chamber for optimal chip clearance and modified bed geometry for even greater operator accessibility.

The side door and an additional front door on the machine allow an overhead crane to operate across the entire machining area.

Simultaneous 5-axis operation is also optional with this latest DMC and achieved via a swivel-mounted spindle head and a CNC rotary table.

The DMG control panel includes a new software tool - ATC - application tuning cycle.

At the push of a button, ATC automatically optimises linear feed drive to suit surface characteristics, speed and precision requirements.

It then integrates them into the workpiece programme.

This minimises the machining time taken to achieve the desired quality.

Also, thanks to the adaptive acceleration control, the CNC system registers the axes' power consumption to determine the weight of the workpiece at set-up and then selects optimal machining parameters for the best dynamic response.

The modular design of the DMC75V linear is complemented by an optional automatic pallet changer for loading and unloading parallel to production and a tool magazine with up to 120 stations.
