Despite overall MACH visitor numbers being down on MACH 2000, DMG logged more visitors onto its stand at this year's event and sold 12 machines valued at EUR 2.8m.

Despite overall MACH visitor numbers being down on 2000, DMG logged more visitors onto its stand at this year's event.

In total 923 registered.

As a direct result of its participation, DMG has sold 12 machines valued at EUR 2.8m and is currently working through the considerable demand for quotes.

"Yes, we were disappointed in the show statistics but I'm delighted DMG has yet again bucked the trend and continues to outperform the market." commented Richard Blake, managing director of DMG (UK).

"Our multiple success in the Metalworking Awards also had a very positive effect." Because of the stringent judging criteria, winning one of the coveted Metalworking Production Awards is a good achievement but for DMG (UK), this year's event proved extraordinary.

No sooner had Blake stepped forward to receive the award for the Best Metal Cutting Machine Tool - Prismatic for the DMG 60S/S-FD machining centre, than he was invited back to receive the Best Metal Cutting Machine Tool - Turning for the Sprint 32 linear CNC turning centre.

As on previous occasions the event culminated in the presentation of the Grand Prix to the best overall 2004 entry and again DMG (UK) was called to receive the top award from television celebrity host, Amanda Stretton.

"We know we have the best in manufacturing technology and these awards confirmed it," concluded Blake.
