Thanks to an impressive range of cost-efficient options, DMG's new DMU 50 universal milling machine can be easily and cost-effectively upgraded from a simple 3-axis configuration to a production centre for 5-sided machining This flexibility allows the optimum machine to be specified for the application, whether for volume tool or mould manufacture or prototype production

The basic DMU 50 can be specified with a choice of three table options - a rigid table and 2-Axes Swivelling Rotary tables, one manually operated and the other motor-driven and hydraulically clamped for complete 5-sided machining.

These features are complemented by a range of Spindle and Axis drives powers up to 13kW, rapid traverses up to 24m/min., and spindle speeds up 10,000 rev/min.

The capacity to the tool-change magazine up to 30 tools available as an option.

The standard magazine has 16 tool capacity.

The magazines allow relatively complex machining to be undertaken in minimum cycle times.

Both the magazine and the tool changer are located outside the machining chamber, an arrangement that protects them against swarf and allows tools to be exchanged during production.

The modular layout of the DMU 50 is the ideal basis for the production of complex individual parts and for small batch production of high precision components with superior surface quality.

Another important contributor to this high performance is the highly rigid machine base.

The flexibility of the DMU 50 is greatly enhanced by the choice of CNC systems, all with high memory capacities and ultra-fast processors.

Large displays and 3D software also ensure these controllers are exceptionally easy to use.

The three available are the Siemens 840D powerline, the Heidenhain iTNC 530 and the Heidenhain MillPlus IT.

Via Ethernet, these all allow direct access to external networks and to DMG's Netservice.
