Latest generation of vertical milling machines are characterised by long axis travel, a compact design, excellent performance and highly attractive starting price.

The latest generation of DMC V vertical milling machines from DMG has a terrific pedigree Its forerunners, the DMC 63 and 103V, were worldwide best sellers and now with a bundle of high-tech features three new models are set to uphold the trend

With bigger tables and smaller footprints, these new verticals - the DMC 635/835/1035V - have been designed to provide a rapid return on investment.

The machines are characterised by long axis travel, a compact design, excellent performance and highly attractive starting price (UK) of GBP 39,950 for the DMC635V machine.

They shave 20% off the production time of a typical job providing excellent value for money especially as an alternative for flexible single part machining and small to medium batch production.

The models only differ in the size of their working area; the largest machine in the range allows a work piece up to 1,000kg to be accommodated.

Increased output is achieved with spindle speeds of 8,000 rev/min spindle - 12,000 rev/min optional - a direct drive on the main spindle and rapid traverse speeds of up to 30m/min.

A 20-station tool magazine has a double gripper allowing tools to be exchanged in just 1.6 seconds.

This ensures fast chip-to-chip times - typically 5s - and high flexibility.

The stable C-frame maintains maximum rigidity to deliver the highest milling precision.

This is complemented by roller guide ways on all axes.

The proven 3-point support simplifies installation and greatly reduces set-up time.

Completing the package is the choice of Siemens, Heidenhain or Fanuc controllers that are all characterised by their ease of use, fast processing, 15in TFT screen and supporting 3D software.

The DMG Powertool range of software products may also be specified so that the machine can be individually configured for maximum performance.

Fast and direct network integration is facilitated by serial and Ethernet ports.

Any model in the new DMC V range can also be equipped with chip conveyor, parts washing system and coolant/air switch to increase process safety and reduce maintenance.

In addition to the optional 12,000 rev/min, greater performance and precision can be achieved with a 30-station tool magazine and linear measuring system.

Further enhancements include an internal cooling unit and chip conveyor or a bed-flushing unit.

Fully automated tool handling can also be specified for unattended operation.
