CNC universal miller offers high
performance
Said to be highly economical for machining small batch sizes down to one-offs, the price to performance ratio of a CNC universal milling machine is quite exceptional.
The opportunity for powerful three to five axis milling at a low investment cost came with the introduction of the DMU50 universal milling machine and the same holds true with the new DMU70 The DMU50 has proved to be one of the most successful machines ever to be introduced from the Gildemeister Group

CNC miller-drillers cut 20% off machining times
With the highly productive DMU 50 / 70 eVolution, DMG has added a new dimension to universal milling and drilling machines designed to save up to 20% on machining times.
More than four hundred of these machines have been installed worldwide since the start of sales last year and early indications would suggest that the DMU70 is set to follow in the same footsteps.
Having made its debut at last year's METAV, the DMU70 was shown for the first time in the UK at the DMG (UK) Open House in April, 2007.
This is a machine that is highly economical for machining small batch sizes down to one-offs, its price to performance ratio is quite exceptional.
In common with its predecessor this larger machine provides variable table options.
These extend from the fixed table for 3-axis machining of workpieces up to 800kg, through a manually swivelling rotary table with hydraulic clamps, to an automatic variant for fast and effective 5-axis machining.
Thanks to the rigidity of the rotary table when clamped into the machine's stable polymeric concrete base high precision and excellent surface quality is achieved.
A 10,000 rev/min motor spindle is provided for general purpose machining but a 14,000 rev/min is optionally available for more demanding work.
On the DMU70 the tools are retrieved from a 16-tool magazine; a 32-station alternative may also be specified.
Both the magazine and tool changer are located outside the machining chamber for easy set-up in parallel with production time.
The inherent stability and rigidity of the DMU70 is complemented by digital drives and direct measurement systems along all axes; rapid traverses of 24m/min are standard on this machine.
Other important characteristics include a highly compact design that provides exceptionally easy operator access to the machining chamber.
In addition to the DMG ControlPanel with 15in TFT screen the DMU70 comes with a choice of CNC - Siemens Sinumerik SolutionLine or Heidenhain with iTNC530 or MillPlus IT.
All three controllers offer a full sized keyboard for simple editing and every facility for graphical programming including 3D software and workpiece simulation.
