A linear motor powered vertical machining centre for 5-axis offers very short positioning times through axis accelerations up to 2G achieving 90m/min rapid traverse rates.

The Deckel Maho DMC 75Vlinear vertical machining centre (VMC) for simultaneous 5-axis simultaneous machining, offers very short positioning times through the use of linear drive systems Used in in each of its three main axes the linear motor drives give accelerations of 2G to achieve 90m/min rapid traverse rate

The machine has axis travels of 885mm in X-axis and 600mm in Y- and Z-axis.

DMG said that such fast positioning movements give significant improvements in productivity.

The DMC 75linear machine has a heavy duty cast iron gantry that supports both X- and Y-axis movements.

The bi-lateral mounting of the spindle ensures high levels of mechanical stability and through absolute positioning, integrates with a 360 deg NC rotary table.

The table has a working surface of 750mm diameter and has a capacity of 800kg.

The direct drive HSK-A63 spindle has a 46kW, 18,000 rev/min specification as standard.

It will deliver some 130Nm of torque.

Options include a 55kW, 28,000 rev/min spindle unit with 47.5Nm of torque or a high speed 13kW, HSK-E50 spindle unit that will run up to 42,000 rev/min.

A 30 tool magazine is supplied as standard.

Options include 60, 120 or 150 tool positions.

Chip-to-chip tool exchange time is 6s.

With the CNC options of Heidenhain iTNC 530 or Siemens 840D powerline, with the latest 3D workpiece simulation, extensive software is included to support 5-axis milling, scanning or measuring cycles.

The DMC 75Vlinear has automatic acceleration control as standard, where acceleration parameters are adjusted according to the weight of the workpiece.

There is also an advanced 'ATC' software option that provides fully automatic adjustment, or 'fine tuning' of machining parameters, based on preferences dictated by surface quality, the level of precision required or maximum output.
