Linear drive developed to enhance
reliability
Successful integrated motor electro-mechanical linear drive concept has been developed further to offer enhanced reliability in combination with very low maintenance requirements.
Building on the success of the Neff Wiesel W0 series was the challenge that faced Danaher Motion when designing the new Wiesel BASELine linear drive In the words of Neff, "The Wiesel W0 has been proven in thousands of different applications over the last 20 years so designing a successor to this established product was a particular challenge." However, Danaher Motion is confident that their new Thomson Neff Wiesel BASELine linear drive unit will live up to the reputation of its predecessor by offering well engineered and low-maintenance technology at attractive prices

The concept of a linear drive unit with integrated motor drive is a simple system that has proved to be very popular and widely specified in manufacturing industry.
Danaher Motion now claim to have developed the concept even further by focusing on the longevity on the new Wiesel BASELine linear drive unit providing enhanced reliability in combination with very low maintenance requirements.
In today's cost conscious environment it was essential that the new Wiesel BASELine linear drive unit be moderately priced in order to be competitive within the market.

Low-noise linear actuator has a long stroke
As industry focuses on the working environment it should welcome a long stroke linear actuator that has a very low operational noise profile.
Essentially the development engineers at Danaher Motion fitted a ball screw drive with low-backlash single nuts into an aluminium profile, in this way the profile can be screwed directly to the machine frame with mounting strips.
This allows for the simple alignment of the linear drive unit and power transmission.
The compact interface between the linear drive unit and the motor called the "power bridge" now has the same flat design as used on other Wiesel lines and provides numerous mounting possibilities.
With its low-maintenance sliding rail the Wiesel BASELine would appear to be a robust, reliable and easy-to-replace guide system.
The integrated spindle supports offer high dynamic response combined with safe and smooth operation over any travel length.
The innovative tried and tested 'cover band' reliably protects the mechanical components from dirt and dust.
The bearings are maintenance-free and when the ball screw drive does need lubricating there is an easily accessible nipple on the 'power bridge'.
If fitted with the optional trapezoidal screw drive requires no maintenance.
The new Wiesel BASELine will be available in two popular frame sizes, the WB40 and WB60, each with profile widths of 40mm and 60mm.
Danaher Motion are keen to point out that customers who already use the predecessor model Wiesel W00/W02 will find it very easy to migrate to the new Wiesel BASELine.
A replacement model (WBE40/WBE60) with the same external dimensions and a power bridge that has been adapted in line with the W0 series allows for simple replacement without additional engineering costs.
Danaher Motion, who acquired Neff Antriebstechnik Automation GmbH in May 2004, will introduce the new Thomson Neff Wiesel BASELine at the Motek exhibition in Sinsheim from 21 - 24 September 2004.
