The unique feature of the cutting disc is the inspection slots which make it possible for the user to see what they are working on.
These slots also provide optimal cooling during the actual cutting process, resulting in good surface quality, regardless of the type of material.
The cooling process minimises sparks and significantly reduces the risk of occupational and/or fire hazard.
Since the cutting discs actually shave rather than grinding, there is no dust problem.
Noise is also significantly reduced, since the cut meshes with the material, rather than riding over the top of it.
At around 10,000 rev/min, the new cutting disk is five times faster than normal grinding discs.
Its wide field of application and the possibility of re-sharpening the cutting surfaces makes the disc economical to use.
The cutting disc was originally conceived for cutting hooves on dairy cattle.
But Danish Tool Productions ApS were quick to recognise the many potential applications for the tool.
We have refined the cutting disc, so that we now have four variants, says Otto Mostrup who is responsible for the new tool.
The different versions cover the entire range of needs, and can be used on all materials, from stone, to aluminium, to plastics.
Danish Tool Productions ApS, in Randers, Denmark, is responsible for developing the new cutting disc.
The company was founded in 1989, and today sells tools all over the world.
The new cutting disc is also planned to be introduced onto the world stage.
Production is already underway, and Danish Tool Productions ApS is currently locating international working partners who can sell or manufacture the cutting discs under licence.
Like other products from Danish Tool Productions ApS, the cutting discs will be sold under the Thor trademark.
The disc has a patent application pending.
