Domino UK will showcase new technology from its innovative range of variable data printing solutions at the forthcoming PPMA exhibition

The company will demonstrate a multitude of applications which offer users a total solutions package for requirements in the food and confectionery, beverage, pharmaceutical and health and beauty sectors Making its premier at PPMA 2005 is Domino's S200WB scribing laser system, which builds upon the established and proven performance of the popular S200 laser to offer higher speeds and increased performance, especially in PET applications

Two-line code printing at higher speeds of up to 152m/min is achieved in PET applications due to an increase in field size of more than 50% available to track the product.

The S200WB comes fitted with high-resolution optics as standard to offer a smaller spot size.

As a result, the S200WB reduces line-width by 35% to give high quality codes which are highly legible even for small characters.

The S200WB uses Domino's unique blue laser tube technology, which produces a clearer and more crystalline code contrast on PET.

It is specifically designed to suit the coding of PET containers in the beverage industry and offers the ability to code even thin walled PET bottles without risk of piercing.

Alongside the S200WB, Domino will demonstrate the extensive capabilities of its DSL1 Pharma high performance scribing laser, introduced to make coding technology easily accessible for pharmaceutical manufacturers.

Launched only in May, the GAMP 4 and 21CFR Part 11 compliant DSL1 Pharma meets the increasing demands for improvements in print quality and line efficiencies combined with reducing batch sizes.

Domino's DPX Extraction Units, specifically designed for use in laser coding applications, will also feature at the show.

Offering a range of functionality, DPX extraction units capture fumes and particles generated during laser marking.

From its continuous ink jet printer range, Domino will line up various models of its hugely successful A-Series printers that have been developed to offer a wide range of reliable coding solutions.

The A-Series is the world's best-selling continuous ink jet printer with well over 50,000 installations worldwide.

The A-Series range at PPMA includes the A200 and A300 variants, each of which print up to four lines of text with a variety of print formats that include logos, bar codes/dot codes, automatic serial numbering/batch coding and real time clocks.

Visitors to PPMA will also have the chance to see Domino's Product Traceability System, (PTS).

The PTS meets the different requirements of the EAN UCC for barcode standards and conforms to the RFID mandate, currently being introduced by major retailers.

Importantly, it provides bar coding and RFID encoding plus validation of both codes.

Thanks to the capability of separate RFID tag and barcode validation, it is possible to provide different levels of information in each.

Completing the line-up of Domino technology is the 3138 Print and Apply System for label application from Domino's subsidiary company, Alpha Dot.

The robust and easy to use 3138 is Alpha Dot's most advanced labeller offering enhanced throughput and increased productivity by eradicating errors common in the manual application of labels.

Domino demonstrates its focus in key market sectors and ability to offer a range of solutions according to specific requirements as follows: Food and Confectionery: Domino offers a range of coding solutions that have been developed to print directly onto food and food packaging.

These solutions integrate seamlessly into existing lines and comply with EU and FDA regulations.

Typical applications include eggs, PET, flexible packs, flow wrap, cartons, cans and corrugated outer cases.

At PPMA, Domino will demonstrate the high quality printing of the A200 continuous inkjet printer and S200 scribing laser in a live demonstration of chocolate box printing.

Beverage: As a preferred supplier to major OEMs and multi-national beverage companies, Domino understands the specific requirements of the industry.

By working closely with wine, spirits, beer and soft drink suppliers, Domino has bought a range of ink jet and laser products to market which provide reliable, high speed and cost efficient coding options.

Visitors will have the chance to see static coding onto PET water bottles with the new S200WB scribing laser and A300 continuous ink jet printer.

Pharmaceutical: Domino has a range of applications specific to the pharmaceutical industry that offer 100% verification and consistent quality and reliability.

PPMA will see Domino demonstrate the application of tablet coding in blister packs via the DSL1 Pharma scribing laser.
