Machining simulation guards against collisions

A DP Technology product story
Edited by the Manufacturingtalk editorial team Aug 26, 2005

Comprehensive, realistic, and accurate simulation allows users to view the entire machined part on-screen, complete with the key moving elements of the machine tool concerned.

DP Technology, developer of ESPRIT CAM software, has announced it will program several milling, turning, multitasking and Swiss-style machines for a variety of top machine tool producers.

These machines, some being exhibited for the first time, will be displayed at EMO 2005 in September.

In addition to programming some of the most innovative machine tools at EMO, ESPRIT will be cutting live parts at the EMCO, FAMUP and Nakamura-Tome booths while featuring software demos on all five machine tool producers' booths.

"ESPRIT's comprehensive, realistic, and accurate simulation allows users to view the entire part onscreen, complete with the key moving elements of the machine tool - spindles, turrets, B-axis heads, and tooling," said Chuck Matthews, DP Technology vice president.

"ESPRIT simulation guards against potential crashes even during synchronised simultaneous machining and transfers of the part from the main spindle to the sub-spindle.
