DS Smith Tri-Wall, one of Europe's leading suppliers of heavy-duty packaging, has announced the launch of the first ever fully recyclable bulk container for liquids.

The new product, called LiquidPak, is expected to be a big hit with customers looking for a more cost-effective and environmentally friendly method of storing and transporting liquids LiquidPak, an octagonal corrugated container, provides a direct alternative to plastic and metal bulk containers (IBC's) and its appeal is based on a combination of major new benefits, including: Low initial cost of purchase Low total cycle costs 100% recyclability Ease of use - being lightweight and quick to erect What's more, LiquidPak completely obviates the need for cleaning or decontamination after use - a process which can involve considerable time and expense

LiquidPak offers other logistical advantages.

It is a very robust product, tested by TUV to rigorous ISTA standards for vibration and shock.

It allows for a high shipping density and the 500-1000 litre capacity packs are offered in stackable versions.

Tri-Wall, which is renowned for manufacturing high quality products for the export trade, has applied its specialist skills to creating this innovative pack which features triple 'AAA' board with wet-strength kraft and water resistant adhesives throughout.

LiquidPak is delivered flat and incorporates a quick erect octagonal sleeve with integral pallet locking tabs for greater stability and safe stacking.

It is compatible with the PRS8 pallet.

The PE internal bag has an integral valve and easy-load cassette.

As an option, the pack can be printed in different colours.

Phil Rees, Tri-Wall's Speciality Manager, commented: "LiquidPak gives companies a brand new option for handling bulk liquids".

"We're finding that our customers want to move towards environmentally friendly products and, of course, they're always under pressure to reduce their costs".

"LiquidPak enables them to achieve both objectives and we expect a high level of interest from all kinds of industries, from chemicals to food and drink processing.".
