UK's Manufacturing Advisory Service to grow
As part of the UK government's recent budget speech, the importance of MAS in giving manufacturers the assistance they need to improve productivity was highlighted and the service will grow.
Overseen by John Hutton, Secretary of State, BERR will regulate and implement government policy on manufacturing, energy, business relations, productivity, competition and consumers, trade policy, trade promotion and inward investment.
For manufacturers in need of expert industry help, little has changed - MAS will continue to offer wide-ranging services such as expert advice and help for manufacturers, government-subsidised consultancy, diagnostic site tests, workshops and events.
For the MAS team and practitioners, this is an opportunity to re-brand, strengthen the key MAS messages and continue to reach out to small, medium and large manufacturing companies throughout the UK who can benefit from MAS expertise.
In five years, MAS has added over GBP 350 million of value to the companies it has worked alongside and this figure is set to increase.
The MAS network has a strong and dedicated team who are knowledgeable about and promote key industry philosophies such as lean manufacturing and best practices, and this will continue under the direction of BERR.
