Colby named Group Publisher of Helmers Publishing

He will also work with the editorial staffs on the positioning for both publications.
Colby joined Desktop Engineering in August 2003 and moves into the position of group publisher from his role as publisher.
He reports to Steve Robbins, executive vice president, and his office will remain in the Peterborough headquarters.
In announcing the appointment, Robbins said, "The proven skills Dave has brought to Desktop Engineering in sales and product development will be indispensable in expanding Supply Chain Systems Magazine's role in the market." David Andrews will continue as publisher/editorial director and will report to Colby.
With Dave Colby overseeing the sales and marketing efforts," continued Robbins, "David Andrews will be able to concentrate on the August redesign of Supply Chain Systems Magazine, the special issue (RFID and Wireless Systems) and other revenue-generating projects in the pipeline." In assuming this role of group publisher, Colby says that he "is looking forward to increasing revenues through new product development as well as expanding the online products for both publications." He added that "there are redesigns currently underway for each of them." Prior to his joining Helmers Publishing, Colby served as publisher for CEP Magazine, a monthly trade publication edited for the American Institute of Chemical Engineers in New York City.
He owned World Media Group, a regional media representative firm in Rye, NH, and was the Regional Sales Manager for The Electrical Distributor, a trade publication for the National Association of Electrical Distributors in Wilton, CT.
Colby was also Regional Business Manager for designfax, and was District Sales Manager for Hardware Age in Radnor, PA.
He was the advertising and marketing communications manager for Crouse-Hinds Company in Hartford, CT, and was account executive at Wilson, Haight and Welch (Creamer ), also in Hartford.
