DE's Ideas for Manufacturing focuses on engineering technologies SMB/OEM manufacturers need to succeed globally

Desktop Engineering and Connexion Events, both divisions of Helmers Publishing, have announced DE's Integrated Design, Engineering, and Analysis Solutions for Manufacturing DE's Ideas for Manufacturing conference series for engineering managers, design engineers, and analysts at SMBs (small and mid-sized businesses) and OEM manufacturers who want to succeed not merely survive in today's global marketplace "North American manufacturing has taken it on the chin since the collapse in 2000," said Anthony J Lockwood, Editorial Director of DE

"Smart manufacturers managed to survive the march of overseas competitors and their legions of cheap labour by cost cutting and making use of their know-how".

"Problem is, our competitors are investing in themselves and get smarter every day".

"To succeed, we must invest in ourselves, stay smarter, and exploit every new technological advancement to the maximum".

"Helping manufacturers understand emerging engineering technologies is what DE's Ideas for Manufacturing is all about." DE's Ideas will provide three tracks of practical, hands-on knowledge on emerging technologies and strategic initiatives to improve engineering processes, innovation, and product development.

Presentations by experienced leaders in general sessions, panel discussions and breakout sessions, and a full exhibition floor will explore technologies and provide strategies that SMB and OEM manufacturers can exploit to gain and hold global market share.

TechExpress, unique to DE's Ideas, will offer attendees private question-and-answer and demonstrations with conference exhibitors.

"DE's Ideas for Manufacturing was developed in response to the findings of several DE subscriber surveys," said Brian Vaillancourt, publisher of DE.

"Our subscribers demonstrated an overwhelming desire to participate in DE-sponsored forums that offered peer-to-peer and supplier-to-engineer settings for learning about and applying collaborative design-for-manufacture tools, technology, and processes, and we're providing them with that opportunity." DE's Ideas for Manufacturing Conferences convene June 13-14, 2006 at the Marriott Suites, Anaheim, CA; June 20-21 at the Sheraton Novi, MI; and June 27-28 at the Westin Waltham/Boston.

Each conference will provide content tailored for the specific manufacturing base dominant in the venue's regions, such as the automotive industry in Novi, aerospace in Anaheim, and electronics and medical diagnostic in Boston.

DE and Connexion Events anticipate the announcement of the first vendor partner next week.

"Nothing beats the American worker given the right tools and training," according to Lockwood.

"DE's Ideas for Manufacturing conferences are all about integrating the right advanced design, engineering, and analysis solutions -- things like CAD, CFD/FEA, visualisation, HPC, product lifecycle management, rapid prototyping, reverse engineering".

"Emerging technologies that SMB and OEM manufacturers need to succeed today and tomorrow." Online registration for DE's Ideas for Manufacturing begins in early April.
