Surlyn is a new polymer for aesthetically pleasing packaing for high end goods.

The two hangers TimandTom by United Pets srl, and the luminous handle L.E.O.

from the collection Free:Go by F.lli Razeto and Casareto spa, represent compelling examples for the winning combination of elegance and versatility offered by Surlyn.

The many applications using Surlyn are all expressions of a perfect synthesis between aesthetics and functionality.

The luminous L.E.O.

handle from the Free:Go collection, manufactured by F.lli Razeto and Casareto SpA (FRandC) and designed by Giangi Razeto, is consistent with these principles.

The scratch- and shock-resistance qualities of Surlyn, and its smooth and silky finish, immediately caught Razeto's attention.

Initial testing for the moulding of the L.E.O.

handle in Surlyn revealed substantial improvements compared to earlier versions made in PMMA and in which the presence of air bubbles had previously occurred.

These improvements, combined with superior aesthetics, were the discriminating factors in the designer's choice of material.

Inspired by the shape of beetles, designer Giangi Razeto originally conceived the illuminated handle as a multifunctional object that could, for example, be used as a security device in busy environments (such as cruise liners, vacation resorts, etc.), to show the position of entrances or emergency exits.

Thanks to the installation of RGB leads (red, green, blue), the L.E.O.

handle in Surlyn can diffuse light in a total ofseven different colours, with the intensity of the illumination controlled either from a switch on the side of the door or by a centralised networking system.

The dynamic and colourful qualities of the L.E.O.

handle also open up new design possibilities in domestic environments, making it an innovative solution for adding a dash of colour, or the perfect night light for children - or adults - who do not like sleeping in the dark.
