Automated X-ray system inspects on production line

A 3DX-Ray product story

An automated in-line X-ray inspection and measurement system offers complete internal imaging of anything on a production line - from blister pack to a metal, plastics or composite product.

X-Line, from 3DX-Ray, has introduced X-Line - an automated in-line X-ray inspection, measurement and QC system that offers complete internal imaging of anything on a production line - from a blister pack to a finished metal, plastics or composite product.

It lets you check what's inside to a 3D accuracy approaching the width of a human hair - and it lets you do it on a moving conveyer belt! More than ever before industry demands that products are fault free.

Functional testing can show if there is an obvious fault, but passes over the threat of latent faults.

That is where X-Line comes in.

X-Line integrates a 3D X-ray camera with a suite of software that controls the system, stores and analyses camera information and outputs application-specific data.

Alongside the camera and X-ray source, the heart of the X-Line's system is 'X-Lines', which is used for data collection from the X-ray camera and applies sophisticated decision criteria to the images.

X-Line can measure features down to 100 micron at line speeds in excess of 80m/min.

As well as the core data collection, X-Lines also has self-monitoring and diagnostic functions, isolated digital inputs and outputs for integration with other equipment and easy-to-use engineering tools for rapid set up.

X-Line connects to the XIMS management system.

X-Line software runs on a standard PC and can be customised for any individual application.

It includes three discrete software packages which work together to allow seamless automatic inspection and process control.
