Award winner invests in CNC profiling

One of the largest further education colleges in the UK, which won Its third Centre of Vocational Excellence plaque, has invested in a CNC plasma-arc/fuel-gas profiling machine.

The College of North West London (CNWL) based in Brent, is one of the largest further education colleges in the UK Its third CoVE (Centre of Vocational Excellence) plaque for excellence has just been unveiled, with the college's Faculty of Technology winning the award for the third time

This most recent award was won for Welding and Fabrication.

Winning the award has enabled the faculty to review their facilities and update their resources by evaluating modern production methods.

This has resulted in investment in modern state of the art technology including an Ultrarex UXL-P CNC plasma/gas cutting machine supplied by ESAB Automation.

The machine is equipped with a PC based Vision LE CNC controller, automatic ignition, height control systems and fume extraction equipment.

It is programmed from an off-line 3D parametric programming package with multiple seats.

The installation enables the college to offer courses related to the needs of industry and train students to use equipment the same as that used in industry.

"We looked at a considerable number of different companies".

"ESAB Automation's equipment was more versatile".

"They offer excellent machines and had superior software compared with others we looked at," said Roy Davies, head of Engineering Technology at CNWL. Request a free brochure from ESAB Cutting Systems ...
