In 2005 Taiwan's export of machine tools to China mainland amounted to US$1.3 billion, which made it the second largest importer of China.

Hong Kong and mainland China ranked first in Taiwan's exports.

Along with the world economics recovery, the world machine tool production has been continuously growing in a high speed since 2003.

In 2005 global machine tool output value, China rose to the third place, behind Japan and Germany, ahead of Italy and Chinese Taiwan with its machine tool output value of US$ 5.1billion, which accounts for 69.4% of the world output value.

China remains the largest machine tool consumer in 2005 and the country's consumption of machine tool continually increases to US$10.78 billion, which accounts for 20.4% of estimated world production value totaled US$49.99 billion.

As a result, it accelerated the development of Chinese machine tool manufacturing enterprises, and attracted a large number of foreign investors and Taiwan region's machine tools companies to enter the market of China mainland.

As an interactive platform for technological exchange and development, the Shanghai Machine Tool Fair 2005 brings together more 640 participant companies.

The 9th edition of the fair will be staged from July 25-28, 2007, at Shanghai New International Expo Centre (SNIEC).

It will become the largest machine tool show in Shanghai, China with the scale of 70,000m2.

The show committee of EASTPO is reinforcing cooperation with machine tools industry associations of the EU, Japan, Korea, India, and China's Taiwan, which will increase the internationalization of the fair in a big degree.

"Taiwan's machine tools manufacturers have opened Turkish, the Southeast Asian area and Indian market recent years by its low-price and high quality of products and the export amount grows unceasingly," Qiu said.

"EASTPO, as an ideal trade platform for cross-straits communications, promotes the development of machine tools industry in Taiwan and China mainland.

More and more customers from Hong Kong, Maco and Taiwan regions and overseas will attend this fair.
