With the lowering of the workplace noise Action Levels to be enforced from April 2006, employers may be interested in the latest sound level meter being launched by Eckel Noise Control Technologies.

With the lowering of the workplace noise Action Levels to be enforced from April 2006, employers may be interested in the latest sound level meter being launched by Eckel Noise Control Technologies It has been developed for the noise at work market, with quality, reliability and, it is said, a cost that will make competitor's panic

The Nor-132 has been developed specifically for Noise at Work type monitoring, in that it is: easy to operate (three orange buttons on the key pad identify on/off, calibrate, and start monitoring - those are the only keys you need); easy to set up (every measurement stores all the required data for the regulations with date and time, and monitoring period); easy to store data (data is stored automatically, so there is no risk of losing vital information); easy to download (fast download to your PC via the USB cable supplied in the kit); and easy to analyse (the software provided guides you through the stages, and helps you to choose the appropriate hearing protection if the measured zone is above the Action Levels).

Best of all, the Nor-132 is a 'real-time' meter, which means that it monitors the true noise spectrum, 100 per cent of the time, for the full measurement period.

Competitors' meters that incorporate sequential monitoring can give 'false' information in Noise at Work type situations.

Noise sources within the factory environment are variable over short periods of time due to product movement, product fabrication and product assembly.

Therefore, it cannot be assumed that noise is constant over time if the product processes are variable over time.

Noise measurements must therefore be made in real-time only.

With sequential monitoring, measurements are only made at 7.6 per cent of the total measurement time on a stepping rotation, giving a potentially 'false' spectrum of the generated noise, instead of 100 per cent of total measurement time.

To make life even easier, the Nor-132 is supplied in a kit, which includes the calibrator, download cable, software, calibration certificate, manual, and robust carry case.

In fact, everything you need to carry out your noise survey with the minimum of effort.

The Nor-132 is now available from stock; contact Eckel for a detailed quotation.
