Collaborative solution covers ERP, supply chain
A new concept in co-operative software, which takes Supply Chain Management and ERP solutions to the next level, is now available from ediTRACK.
New company introduces next generation of collaborative system solutions A new concept in co-operative software, which takes Supply Chain Management and ERP solutions to the next level, is now available from ediTRACK.
A new company, launched in January, 2001, aims to become market leader in the emerging collaborative software sector.
The company - ediTRACK - is marketing a new business-process tracking and management solution, which represents a significant step forward for products of its genre, and offers a wide range of benefits to companies across all sectors of industry.
Originally developed by Allport, one of the UK's largest freight forwarding and distribution companies, for use with its own customer base, the ediTRACK system uses the latest Internet technology to integrate the functionality of Supply Chain Management, ERP, Groupware and Workflow systems to provide a level of visibility of complex business processes which is unattainable through other system approaches.
The product has been exhaustively field tested, and has proved highly successful, with leading names such as ASDA, Coats Viyella, Alders, Next and Nortel.
The benefits of ediTRACK derive from its fundamental design philosophy, which is based on the identification and analysis of business processes.
This is used as the basis of development of a co-operative software application that allows everyone involved in the process to build a database which tracks how they work together.
The result is a tracking and management solution which is designed to reflect the actual business process, rather than a system which requires the process to adapt to its information requirements, as with packaged Supply Chain Management or ERP solutions.
Using ediTRACK, management decisions can be based on real-time snapshots of the process which takes into account all information relating to it, even across multiple databases and legacy applications.
Because ediTRACK uses Internet standards, such as XML and SMTP to format and send messages, it can be easily and cost-effectively deployed on almost any system, anywhere.
Once implemented, the system provides a real-time benchmark which allows actual events to be compared with the "ideal" process plan.
The system also offers forecasting and statistical analysis tools to provide a complete picture of historical events, as well as the ability to aid projections of what should happen in the future.
The ability of ediTRACK to compare the ideal with reality means that it is possible to adjust business processes according to requirements.
These may cover a wide range, such as shortening the supply chain, removing bottlenecks, enhancing customer service or improving communications between business partners.
"This is an exciting development," commented Scott Storey, Commercial Director of ediTRACK, "as there is nothing which offers the intrinsic functionality of this system.
The success of ediTRACK with Allport customers demonstrates clearly its power and usefulness, and we are already seeing very high levels of interest in the wider marketplace.
We are confident that the product will set the standard for collaborative software for years to come.".
