Blister packer handles awkward shapes precisely
Increased speeds, the adaptability to fill different pack formats and the flexibility to handle even awkwardly shaped products are among the advantages offered by a blister packer.
Novel counting system guarantees correct fill
A bespoke counting system that uses an infra-red scanning system provides a fail-safe method of guaranteeing the correct number of items in pharmaceutical packs.
In addition to increased speeds, it offers highly accurate counting and placement thanks to its ability to handle bowed or deformed packs without the system becoming jammed or the reliability of the count being affected.
Key to this efficiency is the two-tier design of the Electro-mec system.
An upper wheel helps to control the throughput of packs and relieves the pressure of the stack on the lower counting wheel, making the counting process much more reliable and accurate.
Another advantage is the single point of contact with each pack during counting.
This allows a fast and flexible counting action and in particular, where packs are not absolutely flat, avoids the known problems of the more commonly used finger counting process where the packs can jam between the upper and lower fingers.
The count wheels are driven by stepper motors through a control system with PLC and number count selector, which interfaces with the CAM cartoner at Budelpack.
Electro-mec has also supplied a conveyor system to take blister packs from the Noack blister machine to the cartoner.
"The Electro-mec system has allowed us to streamline our cartoning operation while ensuring the reliability and accuracy of the pack count is unaffected," commented Gareth Hale of Budelpack.
