Edited by the Manufacturingtalk editorial team Nov 24, 2006

Ergotron's international powered StyleView Cart is certified in compliance with the European Medical Device Directive 93-42-1 EEC.

Ergotron, the global leader in computer and video display mounting equipment, has announced that the international powered StyleView Cart is certified in compliance with the European Medical Device Directive 93-42-1 EEC (specifically EN 60601-1) making it the first and only certified powered point-of-care cart available in the region.

EN 60601-1 is an international medical electrical equipment standard, which ensures the highest level staff and patient safety.

The product, which is currently shipping, has the CE mark issued by TandUuml;V, guaranteeing compliance with European standards.

The StyleView Cart-a computer workstation designed to bring mobile, easily adjustable data entry to the point-of-care for nurses, doctors and other healthcare professionals-is the only point-of-care cart in Europe that is completely certified.

The power system is fully integrated in the StyleView Cart, making it truly mobile with several hours of autonomy.

With Ergotron's unique Automatic Transfer Switch (ATS), a standard component of the power system, the user can continue working on the mounted PC or notebook while the battery is being charged at the same rate as when the attached systems are off.

There is virtually no down-time in using the equipment mounted on the cart.

"This certification gives Ergotron an enormous competitive advantage over other medical cart vendors in Europe," explained John van der Veld, Vice President, EMEA Business Unit for Ergotron.

"With the certified power system, we have the ability to leverage the success we have seen with StyleView Carts in North America and build momentum for powered StyleView Carts in Europe." The StyleView Cart will be on display at the Medica tradeshow in Danduuml;sseldorf, Germany November 15-18, 2006, hall 14, stand C04.
