The Royal Armouries Museum in Leeds was the impressive host to the latest eg focus group, which brought together team leaders and senior managers from leading national financial services organisations Delegates from Bradford and Bingley plc, Clerical and Medical Investment Group (CMIG), First Plus Financial , Norwich Union, Zurich Financial Services, Wesleyan Assurance and West Bromwich Building Society gathered to share their experiences of eg work manager and to discuss the key business requirements necessary to ensure continuous improvement

Under the theme of 'Managing Processes', the session provided a useful forum for delegates to discuss the different approaches and work practices used to achieve best practice.

The event also gave clients the opportunity to see how their feedback is an important driver in the ongoing development of eg work manager.

During the morning session, eg solutions manager, Tim Becker, explained the important role eg work manager can play in an organisation's successful achievement of the world class performance measure of 'Six Sigma'.

The raw data supplied by eg work manager supports any initiative for continuous improvement.

The detailed amount of information on quality it collates provides an automatic monitoring facility that enables organisations to define and analyse any problems in the application of Six Sigma along the way, without having to go through separate processes.

Delegates then debated the 'Golden Rules' of process ownership and aligning process documentation to change control.

eg software manager, James Blackhurst, suggested that key to success is creating online access to a centralised point of standardised documentation.

To ensure our own online access is the best, eg has recently appointed technical author, Jonathan Hayward, who is currently standardising all documentation convention with consistent terminology.

After lunch, delegates heard how Richard Nichols is working closely with eg to promote and develop the benchmarking capability of eg work manager.

Richard has a wealth of IT and financial services experience from working with some of the world's largest financial institutions.

He highlighted the benefits of working together to establish a performance benchmark for the industry as a whole, and invited clients to suggest how they would like to see this developed and implemented to achieve long term performance improvement for all.

James Blackhurst rounded off the day with an eg work manager product development update.

December saw a new release of eg work manager.

Its key benefits include new functionality which enables users to cater for unplanned workload with a 'top up' task allocation and pending/diary management.

The latest version of eg work manager also features improved monitoring processes.

James also announced that the initial development of eg operational intelligence is now complete with further releases scheduled during the first quarter of 2004.

The reporting module of the eg work manager suite, eg operational intelligenceTM allows management information to be reported across all levels of the business.

It is accessible via a browser and uses traditional eg work manager reports.

eg forecasting is an additional module for eg work manager and provides businesses with valuable information to support effective operations management.

This module enables users to predict the impact of changing circumstances, such as new business opportunities and business reorganisation, on their organisation.
