Epicor supports visual studio and .NET Framework
Epicor Announces Support for Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 and Microsoft.NET Framework 2.0
Epicor Software Corporation (NASDAQ: EPIC), a leading provider of integrated enterprise software solutions for midmarket companies, today reaffirmed its support of Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 and the.NET Framework 2.0 in the development of enterprise-class midmarket software solutions that provide a rapid return on investment and lower total cost of ownership.
"When we embarked on the development of next-generation enterprise solutions that our 15,000 customers worldwide could leverage, the logical technology choice was Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 and the.NET Framework 2.0," said John Hiraoka, senior vice president of marketing for Epicor.
"These technologies have enabled us to rapidly build the foundation for our Web services-based enterprise-class solutions-extending the benefits to both our enterprise and manufacturing customers at an affordable price point, while also delivering significant development cost reductions and time savings." "Microsoft is pleased by Epicor's support of Visual Studio 2005 and.NET Framework 2.0 in its development of enterprise-class solutions," said Prashant Sridharan, senior product manager in the Developer and Platform Evangelism Division at Microsoft Corp.
"Both Epicor's Enterprise and Manufacturing Solutions Groups have demonstrated innovative use of Visual Studio.NET 2003 to deliver more-agile, scalable solutions that enable a lower total cost of ownership for the midmarket." During 2003, Epicor's Enterprise Solutions Group utilized Microsoft Visual Studio.NET 2003 and the Microsoft.NET Framework to rapidly deliver Epicor Internet Component Environment (ICE), a complete Web services application development platform and business process management (BPM) framework.
Built from the ground up as a service-oriented architecture, Epicor ICE also embeds Microsoft Visual Studio for Applications (VSA) within the Epicor ICE VSA Workbench to customize and extend Web services.
Together, Microsoft Visual Studio.NET and Epicor ICE empower a company to carry out painless and cost-effective customization that extend the performance and capability of their business applications.
Also introduced in 2003, Epicor for Service Enterprises is the first XML Web service enterprise service automation (ESA) solution for mid-sized, project-based businesses.
Epicor for Service Enterprises uses more than 60 Web services to manage essential business processes more effectively-from resource and project planning to managing travel, expenses and billing.
Epicor's Manufacturing Solutions Group rolled out the first phase of "Sonoma" in 2003, its next-generation manufacturing strategy, recognizing that customers could realize significant productivity gains with the Microsoft.NET Framework.
The new solutions combine the customer driven functionality that exists in Epicor's current solutions with the benefits of its service-oriented framework and user interface, to offer a new class of solution for midmarket manufacturers.
Employing Microsoft Visual Studio.NET 2003 and the.NET Framework, the new SonomaT Class (SC) manufacturing solutions are being designed to offer customers increased levels of scalability, reliability and flexibility in implementing enterprise solutions with a natural upgrade path.
A consistent early adopter of Microsoft technologies, Epicor was one of the first enterprise application providers to have 1,000 customers running Microsoft SQL Server and was among the first companies to be certified for Microsoft BackOffice Server.
Epicor was also one of the first enterprise vendors to leverage XML, the standard language of Web services.
Most recently, Epicor's CRM.NET Suite and Epicor for Service Enterprises solutions qualified for the.NET Connected Logo, which identifies solutions from Microsoft and other vendors that expose or consume Web services as a means for connecting and interoperating with disparate applications, services and devices.
Microsoft has recognized Epicor's leadership and innovation as a software developer, naming Epicor as "ERP Solution of the Year" for North America in 2001 and as ".NET Solution of the Year" for Western Europe in 2003.
