Prevention of ESD in electronics production
Electrostatic discharge (ESD) prevention in electronics manufacture is the theme of the BECA one-day seminar to be held at Marwell Zoological Park, near Winchester, Hants.
Electrostatic discharge (ESD) prevention in electronics manufacture is the theme of the BECA one-day seminar to be held on Tuesday 23rd May 2006 at the conference centre, Marwell Zoological Park, near Winchester, Hants.
The event will provide an opportunity for the experienced to update their knowledge and will help newcomers to the subject to gain an understanding of ESD prevention practice.
The potential for ESD damage or destruction in electronic components and circuits is now well known but often neglected.
This seminar will address matters and cover the importance and principles of effective ESD prevention, implementing ESD prevention with current and future 61340-5-1 standards and techniques for assessing existing ESD measures.
Furthermore future changes in EN 61340-5-1 and 2 will be discussed.
Practical aspects of ESD prevention and control will include, through workshops, advice on choosing equipment and materials for the ESD protected area, practical techniques for auditing and testing and ESD packaging.
The seminar will be presented by panel of BECA expert speakers with front-line experience of working with the current 61340-5-1 standards.
They will also look at how the next versions of 61340-5-1 and the User Guide 61340-5-2 are developing in response to world electronics industry needs, and some of the challenges and opportunities these documents will bring.
Finally a discussion session will provide a forum for delegates to discuss ESD issues with the experts.
BS EN 61340-5-1 and 2 are now well established as practical working tools.
Meanwhile the next version of 61340-5-1 is under discussion at IEC.
It is scheduled to emerge within a few years as a worldwide ESD standard, replacing the current EN61340-5-1 as a European standard.
Cost is £170 (+VAT) per delegate with discounts for group bookings.
Registration forms are available from British Electrostatic Control Association.
