The MT-GD2 safety interlock switch, with DIN mounting, combines heavy duty performance with dual channel operation for higher levels of safety.

Guardmaster's new MT-GD2 safety interlock switch is designed to offer machine builders the benefits of heavy-duty performance, and dual channel operation for higher levels of safety, in a compact package with industry standard DIN mounting holes The MT-GD2 has 4 sets of contacts, which are unique for its type, and size of safety switch

This feature enables the MT-GD2 to be used in high-risk applications where the requirement is for a dual channel system with indication of guard position via a PLC or PC based controller.

The MT-GD2 is manufactured from robust, die-cast zinc.

Its head is designed with an integrated actuator guide, which improves both its mechanical alignment and mechanical life in arduous operating environments.

Also helping in the latter respect is the MT-GD2's 1P67 rated housing.

The tongue operated MT-GD2 is designed to fit at the opening edge of sliding, hinged or lift-off guards.

The unit offers considerable flexibility in mounting with a design that provides for 8 possible actuator entry points.

The wide choice of options for mounting the MT-GD2 is complemented by the availability of five actuator types.

These are Standard, Flat, Sliding Bolt Actuator (which allows a tag out/ lock out facility), Semi-Flexible and Flexible.

The flexible actuator offers the advantage of compensating for any misalignment between guard doors.

Its action is facilitated by an alignment guide, on the metal end cap, which aids its entry.

However on misaligned guard doors the actuator will often strike the end cap first.

This is not a problem with the MT- GD2, as the robust end cap is designed to withstand these knocks.

Irrespective of the style of actuator chosen, the MT-GD2 provides operational safeguards.

A self-ejecting key option prevents operation of the safety switch if its key actuator is not fixed to the guard door.

This stops tampering and means that operators with a spare key cannot easily override the switch.

Users of the MT-GD2 can avail themselves of two versions with either 3 (e.g 2 N/C + 1 N/O) or 4 sets of contacts (e.g 3 N/C+1 N/O, 2N/C + 2N/O) contacts.

Both variants conform to EN 1088, EN 60947-5-1, EN 60204-1, EN 292 and EN50041 and include all the necessary safety related functions, such as forced guided contacts and a tamper resistant mechanism, which allow machinery to be safeguarded in full compliance with the Machinery Directive.

Guardmaster is a world leader in the design and manufacture of machinery interlocking and safety monitoring systems.

As a member of EJA Ltd, which is part of Rockwell Automation, Guardmaster is able to offer complete and integrated safety and control systems, including guards, safety mats and machine interlocks, all of which find application in a wide range of industries worldwide.
