Interlock switch ensures operator safety
Guardmaster's new Cadet 3 safety interlock switch is the compact solution for ensuring the safety of operators on machines with small and lightweight hinged, sliding or even lift-off guards.
Guardmaster's new Cadet 3 safety interlock switch is the compact solution for ensuring the safety of operators on machines with small and lightweight hinged, sliding or even lift-off guards.
The new Cadet offers designers a well accepted DIN 50047 footprint for easy integration into machinery safety systems, and up to three sets of contacts for higher levels of safety, as mandated in new European Safety standards, IEC61508 and IEC62061.
The new Cadet 3 is designed to fit on the opening edge of machine guards and, as an aid to installation, is manufactured with a tongue (or key) actuator which has flexible resilient members to allow for any misalignment between guard doors.
For added versatility, actuator entry can be in one of eight different positions, courtesy of the modular Cadet design, which includes a swivel head that can be rotated through a full 360deg in 90deg increments.
The Cadet 3 integrates forced guided contacts and a tamper resistant mechanism in a design that allows machinery to be safeguarded in full compliance with a wide range of international standards, including EN1088, EN292, EN60947-5-1 and EN60204-1.
It offers users the flexibility and security of two or three sets of safety contacts, these being enclosed in a tough, IP67 rated, plastic enclosure to ensure long term reliability, even in harsh environments.
The enclosure is also extremely compact, enabling the Cadet to fit easily onto the popular tubing used with many guarding systems, especially those fitted to smaller machines.
Guardmaster is a world leader in the design and manufacture of machinery interlocking and safety monitoring systems.
As a member of EJA, which is part of Rockwell Automation, Guardmaster is able to offer complete and integrated safety and control systems, including guards, safety mats and machine interlocks, all of which find application in a wide range of industries worldwide.
