A quick and simple method of calling up CAD data files and inspection routines for a portable arm co-ordinate measuring machine on previously measured parts is now available from EuroPac Metrology of Crewe.

The software system considerably reduces set up time, increases productivity of the portable arm and enables any user to follow the measuring routine thus ensuring reliable and consistent measuring results.

By using TooLOK automatic part recognition software, which is part of the CimCore-Arm Tracker product range, and using a CimCore portable arm probe to contact three pre-qualified points on a previously measured component, tool or fixture, the software immediately recognises the part to be measured.

Following recognition, the software automatically aligns and references the part, loads the appropriate CAD file and inspection routine and tells the operator where to begin measuring.

Not only does this eliminate any confusion over measuring techniques, it avoids the laborious process of searching existing files and routines to obtain the measuring information and data.

TooLOK is a CimCore advanced utility that can be run through Delcam's PowerINSPECT 3.0 software to eliminate drawn-out setting procedures of an arm.

It guides the operator through the inspection process and helps any operator to obtain a consistent, and therefore repeatable, measurement results while automatically creating an Excel format inspection report.

Included within the software is a TooLOK wizard that enables users to generate a 'LOK' for the part to be measured which then serves as the reference between the part and its associated files.
