Fibre laser marking system is
maintenance-free

A fibre laser marking system is an extremely compact air-cooled system, with excellent beam qualities and zero consumables and is designed for 24/7, maintenance free operation.

Electrox will be showing its radical new Scorpion fibre laser marking system, its new Razor CO2 laser marking system, and its recently introduced value-engineered Cobra ES Nd:YAG laser marking system at MACH 2006 The only British-based fully integrated manufacturer of laser marking systems, the company makes a comprehensive range of laser marking systems, all developed for and proven in industrial applications throughout the world

Based in Letchworth, Herts, Electrox is unusual in that it designs and manufactures its own systems, including the electronics, operating software and workhandling, and maintains a substantial team of design, applications, electronics and program engineers.

For the customer, this ensures objective guidance as to which laser system is most suitable for specific production requirements.

Turnkey systems can be often be developed from the standard range, giving minimised capital investment and prompt delivery and installation.

Service and support is all provided from the one company - as managing director Howard Moore said, "The buck stops with us." Laser systems are fast, easy to use, data is input and processed quickly and simply.

Operating costs are minimal because there are virtually no consumable costs, maintenance is negligible and there is no tooling to wear.

The 'ground-breaking' new Scorpion fibre laser marking system from Electrox, exhibited for the first time at MACH, is extremely compact air-cooled system, with excellent beam qualities and zero consumables.

The system is designed for 24/7, maintenance free operation to minimise service downtime and improve productivity.

Ideally suited to the marking of metals, including stainless steels, anodised aluminium and coated materials such as plastics and ceramics, the new fibre laser is particularly appropriate for applications in the medical, automotive, electrical/electronic, tooling and general engineering industries.

Its compact size means it is easily integrated into other processes so is also suited to integrators and OEM partners.

* CO2 laser marking - the all-new Razor CO2 laser marking is particularly well suited to efficiently and quickly marking materials such as wood, glass, rubber, plastics and leather and is ideal for printed circuit boards.

With a wavelength of 10 micron, materials which are difficult or even impossible to mark with more traditional laser systems can be marked using CO2.

Maximum peak power the same as the maximum average power.

The competitively priced Razor CO2 laser marker is completely sealed and air cooled to give high reliability and virtually zero maintenance for the lifetime of the laser.

* Laser marking for SMEs - the recently launched Cobra ES was developed to meet the market demand for a value engineered, aggressively priced laser marking systems and is particularly appropriate for small to medium volume manufacture and as an 'entry-level' system.

Based on the proven technology used throughout the Cobra range of laser markers, it is a fully integrated laser marking solution complete with control electronics, software, safety workstation and workpiece focussing mechanism.

It is based on a diode pumped Nd:YAG laser which is guaranteed for a true 10,000h operation.

Marking field is 140mm, with the option of 220mm.

All the Electrox systems have USB communications, a galvo beam scanning system, DSP Galvo drives and a range of scan lenses which, along with all the electronics and the software, have been developed in-house by Electrox engineers.

The control consoles give control of the laser and the ability to select previously downloaded marking files.

The LCD display shows the status of the laser and comprehensive diagnostics.

All optical components are mounted on a single rigid rail which is enclosed to be fully sealed against the ingress of dust.

Air cooling is fully integrated.

* Software - the easy to learn and use proprietary Electrox intuitive software, uniform across all the company's laser marking systems, is compatible with all current versions of Windows and can import a wide range of graphic file formats, generate bar codes, two dimensional codes and data codes as well as perform automatic serialisation, conduct merges with data from external sources and control up to four axis of motion.

The software has been developed internally by Electrox engineers and is proven in over 2,000 applications world-wide.

* Electrox at MACH 2006, NEC, Birmingham, UK, May 15-19, Hall 4, Stand 4605. Request a free brochure from Electrox ...
