Display menus manage thickness gauging
By using display menus to control the use of the many convenient features offered, this coating thickness gauge has revolutionised the measurement of coating thicknesses.
The Elcometer 456 has revolutionised the operation of coating thickness gauges by using display menus to control the use of the many convenient features that this palm-size, rugged and powerful gauge offers.
Available in three feature packages, Basic, Standard and Top, with either integral or separate probe options, the Elcometer 456 has a reading speed of >60 readings per minute.
It also has multiple calibration methods for smooth, rough and unusual metal substrates, with the comprehensive display instructions presented in many different languages selectable by the user and supported by a backlight for low-light use.
The Elcometer 456 is probably the best designed coating thickness gauge of its type to be found anywhere in the world, utilising the familiar measurement techniques of electromagnetic-induction and eddy-current to measure a wide variety of coatings on ferrous and non-ferrous metal substrates.
The gauge uses intelligent probes so it can host a wide range of probe options including different ranges, different styles and dual functionality, e.g ferrous/non-ferrous, FNF, automatic or manual operation.
A new probe option, the Plug IN Integral Probe (PINIP") is available for the Elcometer 456 separate probe versions and this allows the separate probe unit to be converted for use in one hand for large area surveys.
The Basic version has a simple statistics display with an Infrared data output to send readings or the statistical summary to an optional IR printer.
The Standard version has memory for a single batch of upto 250 readings that can be stored or printed via a cable link to a serial printer or uploaded to a computer.
The Top version has a memory capacity for upto 40,000 readings in upto 999 batches with batch and reading review, data output to serial printers or computer which is supported by the Elcometer Data Transfer Software EDTS+ and the Elcometer Data Collection Software EDCS+.
Data can be collected in normal mode where each reading is stored as an individual or in averaging mode where the user collects groups of readings entering the average as required or in the counted average mode where the user sets the number of readings in the group.
The gauge then stores the average for each group of readings as it is completed.
The Elcometer 456 has changed the way that coating thickness measurements are taken.
