Elcometer has signed a contract of intent with James West to undertake a 3,240m2 construction project in order to expand its production capacity in Manchester, England.

Elcometer has announced that they have signed a contract of intent with James West to undertake a 3,240m2 (34,875ft2) construction project in order to expand its production capacity in Manchester, England.

The UK facility, which not only manufactures Elcometer's internationally renowned range of coatings inspection equipment but also their range of concrete inspection and metal detection products, is being doubled in size to meet the growth in demand - less than three years after their successful acquisition of three companies across Europe.

"Before we made the decision to buy in Europe, we had plans to expand the Manchester factory by 50%," said Ian Sellars, managing director, "Four years on we are now building an extension twice the original size - simply to help satisfy the needs of customers." Building works will commence on 9th January 2006 and Elcometer will move in by the end of the year.

Elcometer have been in a period of sustained growth for a number of years and, in addition to the UK construction project, plans are being drawn up to build a new production facility in Belgium to manufacture their complete range of physical test equipment - due to begin construction within twelve months.

Elcometer will also be moving into new, purpose built offices in France, before the end of the fiscal year.
