What is claimed to be the best magnetic filter on the market avoids re-circulating magnetic particles in any machine tool especially precision grinding applications.

Eclipse Magnetics latest product, the Micromag filtration system promises huge advantages in fluid filtration claims Steve McAllorum, Eclipse's technical sales manager Utilising 90 years of magnetic expertise Eclipse, have developed what is claimed to be the best magnetic filter on the market

The Micromag will take its place amongst Eclipse's other already successful magnetic filtration portfolio and will join the Automag and Filtramag, which are currently being used in high fluid volume applications in the Automotive and grinding industry.

Re-circulating magnetic particles in any machine tool especially precision grinding applications have many negative affects.

Pump, slide way and hydraulic seals wear prematurely, oil and coolant life is massively reduced due to bacterial growth, which can be associated with foreign bodies such as metallic particles and in some cases stops the fluid from performing their critical tasks of cooling and lubricating at the cutting face.

Surface finish and component accuracy can also be affected along with the need to redress cutting wheels on an excessive basis.

All resulting in higher operating costs and reduced profit.

Many state of the art machine tools are still being supplied with sub standard 'cheap fix' filtration systems, which sometimes are no better than expensive strainers.

Micromag, is the latest generation of magnetic filter and can be utilised in any fluid application where ferrous or paramagnetic contamination is present.

The unit is especially affective with machine tool oils and coolants.

The unit comprises of a hard wearing clear filter body, anodised Aluminium lid and a high intensity magnetic core.

The magnetic core incorporates Neodymium Iron Boron magnetic material or 'Rare Earth' as it is more commonly known that generate extremely high intensity magnetic fields.

It is these high magnetic forces that can attract even a sub micron sized particle ensuring that even the dirtiest of fluids are thoroughly treated prior to it being used.

Micromag is available in three housing sizes 5in and 10in with 1in inlet/outlet ports and a 20in unit with 1.1/2in ports.

All units are supplied with port adaptors to suit most pipe connection sizes.

Fluid enters the housing via the inlet port and is evenly distributed around the underside of the Aluminium lid via slotted flow channels.

This allows the fluid to slow down and pass down the outside of the magnetic core where any magnetic particles are attracted by the high intensity magnetic field.

The, fluid then passed through four return slots at the bottom of the core and up through the central return tube and out of the outlet port.

The centrally positioned magnetic core utilises a patent pending magnetic circuit geometry design.

Magnets are carefully arrayed around a central magnetic flux return shield ensuring that all of the magnets performance is utilised whilst still allowing for, four fluid flow through channels.

This ensures that even when the core is fully saturated with contamination, fluid flow is never affected.

The 10in bodied Micromag's core can hold 2kgs of contamination before the unit requires cleaning.

This allows for extended operating durations and minimises downtime resulting in uninterrupted machining.

Where contamination generation is high the 20in Micromag can be utilised, which is capable of holding 3.8kg.

Where loading is extreme and machine operation is critical Micromags can be installed on a duplex set-up.

The clear filter housing gives the operator a visual indication when the unit requires cleaning.

Cleaning is very simple and is conducted using the supplied cleaning tool.

The units can be fully cleaned and back on line within one, minute minimising downtime.

Micromag has many benefits over more conventional forms of filtration, these being: * Sub micron filtration efficiency, if the particle is magnetic the Micromag will remove it.

* No loss of fluid due to changing oil sodden cartridges.

* No pressure drop, even when fully loaded with contamination.

* No consumables required, ever.

Once purchased the unit does not require ongoing spend resulting in lower operating costs.

* No maintenance required, only operator intervention to clean.

* Reduced environmental impact, all you are left with is metallic material which can be collected by your material supplier.

* Capable of removing abrasives and non-magnetic material by means of heterocoagulation.

* Reduce machine downtime, increase productivity.

* Visual inspection of fluid being filtered.

Before you consider spending thousands of pounds on your next filtration system, consider Eclipse Magnetics systems.
