Eclipse magnetic filtration device
shortlisted
Claimed to be particularly effective with machine tool oils and coolants, a high-intensity magnetic filter by Eclipse Magnetics significantly improves filtration efficiency over conventional systems.
The Eclipse Magnetics Micromag magnetic filter has been shortlisted by Centaur Publication's 'Metalworking Production' magazine for a 2008 MWP Award in the Best Quality Control Equipment or System category Micromag secured a place on the shortlist because it offers an innovative flow-geometry path, which ensures the filter cannot block and which prevents excessive pressure loss, both of which are crucial to efficient operation

Magnetics filter out ferrous debris to up quality
An automatic, self-purging filter removes every particle of magnetic debris to improve the quality, efficiency and economic performance of machine shop, grinding and finishing processes.
Magnetic filters ensure clean cutting oils
Installing one of the latest magnetic filters on a tool and cutter grinding machine ensures that the cutting oil is suitably filtered prior to it being reintroduced into the grinding operation.
This is achieved by arranging the magnets around a central magnetic flux return shield to ensure that all the magnets' performance is used whilst still allowing unaffected fluid flow, even when the core is fully saturated with contamination.
Launched by Eclipse Magnetics in 2007, Micromag is a high-intensity magnetic filter which significantly improves filtration efficiency over conventional systems.
It uses high-power neodymium 'rare earth' magnets to remove ferrous and para-magnetic contamination from fluids.

Magnetic filter improves machining quality
What is claimed to be the best magnetic filter on the market avoids re-circulating magnetic particles in any machine tool especially precision grinding applications.
Magnetic filter reduces cartridge consumption
Tool maker is reducing some GBP 140/month expenditure in filtration cartridge usage since adding on a magnetic filter system between an EDM machine and the cartridge filters.
Eclipse told manufacturingtalk that the system is particularly effective with machine tool oils and coolants.
For many customers, installing Micromag has been an essential part of achieving its environmental commitments, said Eclipse.
All that remains in Micromag is the metallic contamination, which can be quickly and easily removed, avoiding the need to dispose of dirty cartridges.
With minimal running costs and no requirement for consumables, Micromag is becoming an essential part of many of the world's leading manufacturing operations.
Micromag is available in three housing sizes: 5in and 10in, with 1in inlet/outlet ports, and a 20in unit, with 1in ports.
All units are supplied with port adaptors to suit most pipe connection sizes.
Although compact in size, Micromag has a large holding capacity with units able to hold 900, 1800 and 3600g of contamination, resulting in less downtime.
Sales and marketing director at Eclipse Magnetics, John Dargavel, said: "We are delighted to have been shortlisted in the prestigious MWP Awards.
It is a testament to our continued focus on investment and innovation which has enabled us to offer our customers significantly improved filtrations levels in addition to environmental benefits".
