Using machine modules from the established VSC vertical pick-up volume production turning machines, Emag has developed the VL variant for batch production These machines are being built by Hardinge Emag Gmbh, which is a joint venture based in Leipzig, Germany

JV partners are Emag, Germany, and Hardinge, US.

Based on a rigid Mineralit polymer cast granite bed, typical of the VL series is the VL3 with a 160mm diameter chuck.

It has a power rating of 16.5kW and spindle speeds up to 7500 rev/min.

Rapid traverse feeds are up to 60m/min and chip-to-chip time is 1.2s.

A 12-station turret with 40mm shanks takes static or live tooling.

Machine 'footprint' is just 4m2.

The VL Series covers chuck diameters of 160, 200 and 250mm.

The CNC used is by GE-Fanuc.
