Emag extends VL range to allow complex machining

An Emag UK product story
Edited by the Manufacturingtalk editorial team Oct 23, 2008

The Emag VL series is now available with a Y-axis, allowing the machining of complex geometries.

The VL-Y can carry out eccentric milling and drilling operations without the need for special tools, increasing its application range.

The VL-Y has a 50mm travel Y-axis chip conveyor, machining area extraction unit, fluid-cooling system for spindle motor and turret and automation equipment for the loading and unloading of workpieces.

Every VL has a recirculating workpiece storage conveyor on which carrier prisms deliver the raw-parts to and collect the finish-machined components from the pick-up spindle.

As the pick-up station is located behind the machining area, the operator can continue removing finish-machined components from and inserting new raw-parts into the carrier prisms at the front.

The prisms can be fitted with workpiece-specific carriers, pallets for asymmetrical components or workpieces that have to be accurately aligned for machining.

This system allows automatic loading and unloading of many workpieces.

The VL series is suitable for companies that manufacture small and large batches of varied components.
