Engel takes over Premax business of SIG
Corpoplast
Engel Austria will be taking over the "Premax" business of SIG Corpoplast, Germany, and the Premax PET preform production systems will be marketed under "Engel MacPET".
Pursuant to an agreement signed on 11th April 2003, and with all rights and obligations arising therefrom, Engel Austria will be taking over the "Premax" business of SIG Corpoplast GmbH and Co KG, Hamburg/Germany, with effect from 1st July 2003

The prime aim of the automation of injection moulding systems is not to save high labour costs but to ensure high process and product quality, says Engel.
"Premax" is the name given to SIG Corpoplast's complete system technology for the fully automated manufacture of injection moulded preforms used in the production of PET beverage bottles (PET = polyethylene terephthalate).
These systems, which have production capacities of up to 43,200 PET preforms per hour, have for many years been manufactured jointly by Engel and SIG Corpoplast: Engel is the sole supplier of the system-integrated injection moulding machines.
When the aforementioned agreement comes into effect, Engel will take over the responsibility not only for all new business but also for all business transacted by SIG Corpoplast prior to the take-over (servicing, guarantee etc.), thus ensuring full continuity of the service offered to existing users of these PET preform production systems.
Engel will continue to obtain the PET moulds from the firm of SIG Moldtec GmbH and Co.KG, Essen/Germany, as one of its two preferred suppliers, the other partner in this cooperation project being MHT Mold and Hotrunner Technology AG, Hochheim am Main/Germany.
Following the business take-over, the PET preform production systems will be marketed under the new brand name of "Engel MacPET".
