Engis CBN wheels better for bandsaw sharpening

An Engis product story
Edited by the Manufacturingtalk editorial team Nov 10, 2008

Engis CBN-plated grinding wheels have shown benefits over conventional bonded abrasive wheels, when used for bandsaw blade sharpening requirements.

These advances include longer life between regrinds, no loss of form during regrinding and no need to redress or reprofile the wheel after grinding.

There is no loss of wheel diameter or peripheral wheel speed due to wheel wear, and no metallurgical damage to the saw during sharpening, resulting in faster cutting speed.

The use of CBN-plated wheels means there is no abrasive dust in the work environment, nor in the workings of the saw sharpening machine, and no difference between the regrinds on first, second and third shift - it is also possible to strip and replate the wheels when required.
