Manufacturing production data caught automatically
Collaborative Manufacturing Execution suite is an electronic 'nervous system' for discrete manufacturing organizations and captures data automatically from every touch point in production.
"They see the value of migrating their system to the open standards solution offered by eXpresso and the new MPT9100 terminals," said Peter Murphy, President and CEO of Epic Data.
Electric Boat is a world leader in the design, construction and service of nuclear submarines.
As a defence contractor, Electric Boat must have a dependable time and attendance tracking system to ensure that the company records all employee labour.
The new eXpresso system will help the company control costs and improve efficiency by working seamlessly with a variety of existing software and hardware systems.
An important objective of the new system is to enable Electric Boat to use their data collection terminals to gain access to everything from the corporate directory to policies and procedures, safety rules and accumulated know-how of other staff.
"The new MPT 9100 data collection terminals will provide employees with improved on-screen access to corporate information assets".
"In addition, the eXpresso software platform will greatly improve the collection and distribution of information," said Murphy.
The MPT9100 terminals feature a large, integrated, VGA colour screen and trans-reflective display that provides excellent visibility in industrial environments.
The terminal's touchscreen interface provides a high degree of versatility in application user interface design.
With a current workforce of 10,000 employees and more than a century of experience, General Dynamics Electric Boat has established standards of excellence in the design, construction and lifecycle support of submarines for the US Navy.
Primary operations are the shipyard in Groton, CT, and the automated hull-fabrication and outfitting facility in Quonset Point, RI.
