E-Components and Chains is launching the latest addition to its Detectamet range of metal-detectable plastic products by offering Detectamet Blue Electro-Magnetically Detectable Dressings The Detectamet range of plasters offers the following: hypo-allergenic adhesive; complies with food and hygiene regulations (S/1990 No 1431); comprehensive range; sterile/individually wrapped; comfortable; and washproof

ECC/FEP is described as the ultimate in high security - a dressing specifically designed for the food and catering/pharmaceutical industries, which offers a faster alternative to blue tape.

The additional length of the ECC/FEP (16cm) is the key to the product's reliability, ensuring that no matter how wet, steam-filled or hot the environment becomes, this product cannot become separated from the wearer.

For the food, catering and pharmaceutical industries, the strictest hygiene regulations have to be enforced (Food Safety Act 1990).

Contamination on any scale entering the food chain is potentially disastrous and extremely costly; therefore every possible measure must be taken to reduce the risk.

Bright blue is the one colour that does not occur naturally in food, therefore if a dressing this colour enters the food chain it is clearly visible.

Electromagnetic detection, however, is highly suitable for the food industry, where the necessary detection equipment is operational.

The metal strip positioned behind the lint pad in the ECC product is the key component for detection.

A stray Detectamet dressing will therefore always be detected.

Furthermore, the acrylic adhesive provides excellent adhesion, ensuring that dressings remain in place, safeguarding against time-consuming and costly disruption to production.
