E-Components and Chains is launching a new range of Detectamet metal detectable plastic safety knives Knives that have inner open spaces often breed bacteria and open blades will cause contamination if they draw blood

The majority of knives have carbon steel blades, which rust and are removable, meaning that they may drop into the product or packaging.

The ECC Detectamet range offers a choice of food-approved, metal-detectable plastic knives with stainless steel blades, meaning the risk of contamination is extremely low at all times.

Features of the ECC Detectamet Penguin 400 and Detectamet Fish 600 include: stainless steel blades and metal-detectable, dark blue handles; models available with or without a hook; complete sealing against bacteria; hygienically moulded-in stainless steel blades; a pointed nose for piercing.

The knives are suitable for cutting plastic bags, string, stretch wrap and bubble wrap.

ECC's Detectamet cardboard cutters are directly targeted at the most conventional applications for knives (ie cardboard boxes).

Prior to the introduction of the Detectamet cardboard cutter, an open blade was needed to cut heavier cardboard; but now a hook-and-blade system punctures the box to prevent damage to the goods inside.

Furthermore, the blade will not break out of its casing under stress, the cutter is easily gripped even when wet, and there is a security button with a key to prevent the blade being changed by employees.
