The European Power Transmission Distributors Association (EPTDA) witnessed an encouraging turnout at its annual convention 2005 in Prague, Czech Republic, from 28 to 30 September.

With more than 340 company representatives from all over the world and three new members from Eastern Europe, the result in attendance for the Prague edition was in line with the continuous growth of the association.

The theme of this year's meeting, 'Welcoming New European Challenges', was much illustrative of the business implications of today's expanding Europe.

The topic was expertly discussed by an array of outstanding speakers.

Many new initiatives such as a networking lounge, free internet access, more networking opportunities, new format of seminars with an open discussion session, were implemented this year, making the EPTDA convention the key event in the European PT/MC industry.

In addition, the innovative, efficient 'on-line MD-IDEX registration' system paved the way to an even more productive "Manufacturer-Distributor Idea Exchange" programme, the highlight of the convention as a unique platform for communication and networking between distributors and manufacturers.

Till Bl?ssinger (Josef Bl?ssinger , Germany) was elected to succeed Glyn Clarke (BRT Bearings , United Kingdom) as EPTDA's president in the coming year.

Roberto Cugnaschi (Mondial, Italy) was appointed First vice president.

Marcel Mak (Spruit Transmissies, The Netherlands) now has the position of Second vice president.

Jukka Nordling (SKS mekaniikka Oy, Finland) was accepted as the new secretary treasurer.

Ralf Kronawitter (Iwis Ketten, Germany) will serve as Manufacturers' Council chair.

Founded in 1998 and headquartered in Brussels, EPTDA is the largest organisation of distributors and manufacturers of power transmission and motion control products on a European level.EPTDA is currently representing 198 companies from 19 countries including East Europe, the USA and Canada, namely 119 distributors of power transmission/motion control products, 70 manufacturers, and nine associate members that provide services directly related to the industry.

This year EPTDA has welcomed 24 new members and targets to increase this number by the next convention in Vienna, Austria, on 20 to 22 September.
