Casting simulation software is on Windows NT and 2000 ESI Group, leading provider of virtual prototyping and manufacturing solutions, today announced at Foundry 2001 International, the release of PAM-
"While these acquisitions are quite recent, the integration into ESI Group of ProCAST and CALCOSOFT software, as well as the engineers from UES Software and Calcom are already a success," declared Dominique Lefebvre, casting solutions product manager at ESI Group.
"The new metallurgic section we have created now has close to 50 experts and engineering specialists.
The synergies and complementary nature of our complete range of software enables us now to offer powerful, effective solutions for each different sector of the casting and metallurgy industries." Simulation of Foundry Processes - based on a structured finite volume technology, PAM-CAST simulates a wide range of processes including gravity die casting, low-pressure die casting, semi-solid, and lost foam processes.
The latest release offers advanced high-pressure die casting simulation capabilities, a new interface for thermo-mechanical coupling and enhanced data exchange with CAD systems.
ProCAST simulates high and low-pressure die casting, sand-casting and lost wax processes.
The software package efficiently integrates with most CAD software and relies exclusively on the finite element technology, coupling thermal, fluid and stress in order to provide rapid optimization of casting designs.
CALCOSOFT is the only software package on the market truly tailored for the needs of continuous and semi-continuous casting processes.
In addition to being an efficient modeling tool, CALCOSOFT takes into account physical properties, including macrosegregation, hot tearing, gas porosity, prediction of grain structures and primary and secondary phase modeling.
ESI Group is a pioneer and world leading provider of digital simulation software for prototyping and manufacturing processes that take into account the physics of materials.
ESI Group has developed an entire suite of coherent, industry-oriented applications to realistically simulate a product's behavior during testing, to fine tune the manufacturing processes in synergy with the desired product performance, and to evaluate the environment's impact on product usage.
ESI Group's product portfolio, which has been industrially validated and combined in multi-trade value chains, represents a unique collaborative, virtual engineering solution, known as the Virtual Try-Out Space (VTOS), enabling a continuous improvement on the virtual prototype.
By drastically reducing costs and development lead times, VTOS solutions offer major competitive advantages by progressively eliminating the need for physical prototypes.
