India supplies friction welder to Turkey
Against stiff competition from Europe and USA, ETA Technology has won an order for manufacture and supply of a friction welding machine of 1250kN capacity from Turkey.
The latest order is for supply of a continuous drive type machine of 1500KN capacity and will be used for welding piston rods to rod-eyes.
The spindle torque will be upto 4000 Nm and it can run at any speed from zero to 700 rpm.The machine will be tooled up to weld jobs of diameter upto 120mm.
The typical cycle time for welding a job of 50mm dia will be 55 seconds floor to floor.
ETA has also bagged order from Duro Valves, a part of the renowned Bajaj group in India for supply of four friction welding machines for welding IC engine valves.
Of these, three will be vertical machines and one horizontal.
ETA has already supplied them three machines earlier.
All seven machines are of 30 KN capacity and can weld valves of stem dia upto 9mm.These machines use electrical servomotors to generate the axial forces for welding.
The thrust is measured by a loadcell and is controlled very precisely in a close-loop by an Industrial PC.
