Abac acquires ALUP Kompressoren
As part of a strategic investment in the European industrial market, ABAC, the world's largest manufacturer of compressed air systems, has acquired ALUP Kompressoren GmbH.
Air compressor distributor appointed
ABAC has appointed Eastern Compressors to represent both its ABAC and ALUP brands of high-performance air compressors and associated technology.
Robert McBride Limited's Burnley detergent operation and the UPM Shotton paper mill were amongst the winners in 2006, while Hitachi Automotive Systems Europe and Eaton Heavy Duty Transmissions won awards in 2005.
North of England Excellence is a not-for-profit company which will help organisations to assess the whole of their operation from financial results, quality of leadership and management, efficiency of procedures and processes to customer satisfaction and corporate social responsibility, and implement improvement programmes.
It will also act as an accreditation body for schemes including the nationally recognised Investors in Excellence standard.
Chief executive of North of England Excellence is David Teale, the former managing director of Manchester Airport Aviation Services.
He said: "Since its launch in 1994, Excellence North West has played a major part in helping manufacturers and many other businesses in the North West to improve their performance and has become one of the most successful regional excellence bodies in the UK." Teale explained: "By joining forces with other partners to create North of England Excellence, we can now bring those benefits to organisations throughout the whole of the North." Excellence North West will play a leading role within the new company, with support from Excellence Yorkshire and the North East Quality Group.
The launch was supported by the North West Regional Development Agency, Yorkshire Forward, One North East, The Northern Way, the CBI, the Institute of Directors, The North West Business Leadership Team and culturenorthwest.
