UnumProvident (UNM) has selected its Dialogue software to be a common platform for designing, managing, and producing the communications it delivers to policyholders through multiple channels.

Exstream Software has announced that UnumProvident (UNM), the largest provider of group and individual disability income protection insurance in the United States and United Kingdom, has selected its Dialogue software to be a common platform for designing, managing, and producing the communications it delivers to policyholders through multiple channels Using Dialogue, UNM intends to achieve its companywide initiative for improving customer experience by exploiting enterprise data to produce more consistent and clearer communications for its policyholders

UNM chose Dialogue to streamline complex document creation processes as it moves to a more flexible, service oriented architecture (SOA), citing the software's robust functionality, speed, and ease of use as key factors in the decision.

The company plans to benefit from faster time to market through the elimination of many existing software products and systems, redundant processes and expensive program maintenance.

Also instrumental in UNM's selection of Dialogue was its role-based, collaborative design environment; automated compliance support; and ability to easily integrate with legacy systems and directly access disparate data in native formats - simultaneously - to achieve straight-through processing goals.

Dialogue's collaborative design environment will give UNM business users more control over the creation, personalization and maintenance of document content, lessening dependency on IT resources.

With Dialogue, UNM business users will be able to easily make changes to documents and take advantage of the software's ability to automatically replicate those changes across all document applications, ensuring consistency and significantly speeding time to market with new information or products.

Additionally, the company intends to exploit Dialogue's compliance support module to automate content inclusion or exclusion based on effective dates and jurisdictions, simplifying regulatory compliance challenges related to servicing multiple states.

"In selecting Dialogue, we were particularly impressed with the fact it was built from the ground up with a scalable architecture and the functionality that will help us build the pathway to the next generation of document processing," said James Smith, vice president acquisition services for UnumProvident.

"Dialogue will easily build upon our existing processes to create a more comprehensive solution".

"In our line of business we create a lot of varied and customised documents for our diverse customer base".

"Using Dialogue, we will now be able to exploit content from multiple systems to create integrated communications that better serve our policyholders".

"We are looking forward to taking advantage of the power and speed of Dialogue to meet our conversion needs, as well as its collaborative design environment to meet our customer-focused goals at the business level".

Going forward, the company plans to use Dialogue's real-time capabilities to give Company Plan administrators the ability to request contracts interactively online and print them locally, resulting in significant projected savings in printing, paper and postage costs.

"UnumProvident is a forward-thinking company when it comes to investing in technology that improves its service levels," said Michael Charest, vice president of insurance solutions for Exstream Software.

"We are very happy to provide UNM with a solution that will improve the overall customer experience while reducing costs through streamlined document creation processes".
