Engineering Technologies and Manufacturing of Preston welcomed the arrival of its new Blohm Planomat HP612 Creep Feed Surface Grinder with fourth axis recently Incorporating a 600 x 600 x 1200mm table and an accuracy of +/- 1 arc seconds on the 4th axis and with the option of a 5th axis if and when required, the machine features the latest developments in terms of technical capability and will enhance the companies substantial existing capacity enabling them to offer three dimensional, creep feed, and form grinding on a sub-contract basis, and allowing the company to grind a variety of specialist parts including racks, gears, splines and forms, such as root grinding of turbine blades

Managing Director, Jim Stewart already has several jobs lined up for the machine, and believes that this type of capacity is quite a rarety in the UK sub-contract machining market he is confident of offering its services to a wide range of industries both on a sub-contract and overflow basis.
