A problem at a nine-man CNC machining subcontractor was that the two partners stored all information in their heads and had always to be on site - until and MRP system took over.

Redline CNC is based in Horley, Surrey, and currently employs 9 The company has created a niche role as a precision sub-contract machinist serving major UK first-tier suppliers to manufacturers involved in missile launch system controls, print industry components and medical instruments as well as aerospace and aeronautics

Problem 1: The business depended wholly on Andy Armstrong and Dave Gorsuch, the company's Partners.

Many of the business details were 'stored' in their heads, thus making their constant presence essential.

Problem 2: Because the Partners had to spend so much time on site, they felt that development work was being stifled.

Furthermore, in order to grow the business Andy and Dave recognised that they would have to participate in a certain amount of sales and marketing activity.

Problem 3: The business required an integrated solution that would keep track of all: Assemblies; Stock; Purchase Orders; Works Orders; Relative Priorities and Progress, but which fitted the budget.

Problem 4: As a business grows so does the paperwork associated with it.

Both Andy and Dave felt that they needed a system which could produce purchase orders, route cards, delivery notes, release notes and invoices to reduce the valuable labour hours spent generating them manually.

Solution: FactoryMaster's integrated MRP Production Control System, introduces quality and consistency into all areas of the business.

Andy explains, "FM2000 has taken the 'weight from our shoulders'.

I no longer have to spend hours every day dealing with employee queries as all the information they need is available on one central database.

It also means that Dave can delegate many of the day-to-day production tasks to others, because these tasks are made so simple on FM2000.

Words cannot begin to describe the way I feel about FactoryMaster, I am simply euphoric.

If the product were a woman, I'd take it home to meet my parents!." Dave is in agreement, "I can see the improvements that the system has brought to our business already.

In fact I don't think we could cope without it." Just some of the benefits brought to Redline by FM2000 include: confidence in expansion; FactoryMaster runs the business whilst key personnel can 'free their minds' from more trivial tasks; FM2000 has eased operational and procedural delegation and greater staff involvement and continual improvement.
