On show at MACH 2008 will be a portable CMM measuring arm that 30% more accurate, 33% lighter in weight, and offers better performance in scanning dark or reflective surfaces.

At the UK's MACH 2008 machine tool show, Faro UK will present its broad range of portable measuring machines for a wide range of applications Faro's area vice president for the UK and France, David Homewood, told manufacturingtalk.com that he is very enthusiastic about the show

He said: "MACH is the most established showcase for UK manufacturing.

It is the UK's premier manufacturing technologies event, encompassing metal cutting and metal forming machine tools along with all ancillary and related products and services".

He added: "In the past we have seen incredible interest in our portable measurement devices.

This year we will have numerous new products to showcase like the Quantum FaroArm which measures accurately to within +/-0.018 mm - a fifth the width of a human hair! In addition we have recently launched the Fusion FaroArm - an entry-level model with +/-0.036mm accuracy at a very competitive market price".

Faro have also recently launched its ScanArm which is 30% more accurate, 33% lighter in weight, and offers better performance in scanning dark or reflective surfaces than the company's V2 models.

The most recent innovation is software for the FaroArm and Laser Tracker - CAM2 Q.

Homewood said: "CAM2 Q's unique combination of power and simplicity provides a confidence-inspiring user experience with Faro's portable CMMs.

No other software/hardware package in the industry simplifies measurement while providing so much capability.

The end result for our customers: better products, more cost-effective processes, and a competitive advantage".

Homewood said: "Our aim is to make people realise how quick and easy measurements can be carried out.

Many of our customers used stationary measuring equipment before switching to our portable systems.

Their lead time is reduced while quality standards are improved by using our systems after a few weeks already.

This guarantees a very fast return on investment".

* User-friendly laser scanner - Faro's product range also includes the Faro Laser Scanner, which was designed with user friendliness in mind.

The high performance of the Scanner can be used with minimal training to capture 3D point cloud data.

The scanner offers features like photorealistic 3D images including colour option, high speed, modularity and proven technology.

For Mechanical Engineers Faro offers the ideal solution with the Faro Gage which is the smallest and most precise Faro measuring arm.

With a measurement volume of 1.2m it is ideal for adjusting, aligning, measuring and verifying parts.

Different software packages are available to suit various requirements.

The Faro Laser Tracker is a portable measuring system which uses laser technology to effectively and accurately measure large parts, tooling and machinery with a range from 0.025mm to 70m.

Homewood concluded: "In addition to the top-level range of portable CMMs we're able to offer today we will show even more exciting product news at MACH so we are very positive that visitors to our stand will be hooked by our products and services".
