Farfield Scientific has announced that the name change from Farfield Sensors will become fully effective on Wednesday 24th May 2006.

This new name is a reflection of the dramatic expansion in applications for Farfield's proprietary Dual Polarisation Interferometry technology in the global Nanotechnology and Biophysics markets.

"Nanotechnology and Biophysics provide the most demanding measurement challenges facing research over the next decade," said Simon Carrington, Marketing Director at Farfield.

"The new name reflects the successful journey our business has undertaken over the last two years in providing analytical instruments that address the measurement needs of academic and industrial researchers in both of these critical markets.

Essentially, we have moved far beyond providing only sensor technologies and the time is now right to project this to our customers.

In conjunction with the name change, Farfield Scientific will launch a new website and open a direct sales office for Farfield Scientific in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to capitalise on the company's growing opportunities in the US market.

Gerry Ronan, CEO of Farfield, said "I am very pleased by the brand recognition achieved by Farfield to date.

Customers have identified our name with high quality, unique metrology solutions and superb levels of customer support.

We intend to continue this through the name change and capitalise on the opportunities provided by our new facility in the USA, our new website and the increased focus on our Nanotechnology and Biophysics markets in pursuing our aim of illuminating the molecular world".
