The majority of all staircases at a new supermarket have been fitted with a DDA compliant stair edge nosing panel, which is extremely slip resistant even in the wettest of conditions.

The majority of all staircases at the brand new Asda supermarket at Sutton, Surrey have been fitted with a DDA compliant stair edge nosing panel from Suffolk based company FibreGrid.

The pre-formed robust fibreglass panel was fitted to all fire escape stairways aswell as internal staircases in around the store.

EdgeGrip has a silicone carbon grit top finish which is extremely slip resistant even in the wettest of conditions.

EdgeGrip is the ideal solution for compliance with Part III of the Disability Discrimination Act and was placed over the edge of the existing checker plate stairs and secured in place with an adhesive bond as well as screw fixings.

The back edge of the profile has a unique feather edge that has been designed to eliminate trip hazards as the profile is flat to the surface it is secured to.

EdgeGrip is available in any colour but was fitted to the Asda stairs in yellow, the preferred choice of the National Institute of the Blind.

"It has taken 18 months of research and development to find the ideal solution to the new DDA regulations" said FibreGrid's Managing Director Rob Cousin.

"EdgeGrip is such an excellent product, competitively priced and is really finding its niche in applications like the new Asda store".
